Blush Bar | Geelong

Hello Twenty Eighteen!

Wow!!! What a crazy, busy, wonderful start to the year. So much is happening and we are super busy with new and innovative concepts, new and exciting products and listening to what our Blush Bar babes want and need.

First off we are kicking off 2018 with our tuition workshops. We want these workshops to be fun, a space where you can learn under the guidance of a professional. Where we can instill confidence and provide our clients with the ability to learn the tricks of the trade. We will commence with the teen tuition workshops which we are especially excited about. These workshops are aimed at the younger Blush Babes and are designed to boost confidence whilst maintaining age appropriate looks.

We are also fully restocked (just check out our gorgeous window display) with all your favourite Napoleon Perdis cosmetics which we use, recommend and sell. Our director Emma is also extremely busy testing, sampling and coming up with new formulas and colour concepts for Our very own and much loved Blush Makeup line of cosmetics made exclusively for our Blush Bar clientele.

Cult favourite Embryolisse has landed – this moisturiser is used by makeup artists around the world and we want to share the love with this amazing product. Get yours now and see what all the fuss is about.

Last but not least, we are busy keeping up with all our amazing clients who have been so loyal and who we simply adore. The last 3 years has been a wild ride and we are so full of love and gratitude for all our clients.

To cater to our clients needs and to demonstrate that we are listening, we’ve decided to open on Sundays. This is to cater for all our Blush Babes who may require their hair and makeup to be done on Sundays, which to date has been extremely busy!

Finally, our Bridal department has and always will be something our director Emma is truly passionate about and we will continue to cater to all our stunning brides and provide the most professional makeup and hair service in Geelong and surrounds.

As you can see, 2018 has started with a massive bang. We are so excited to be running this monthly blog so you all know what’s happening, which products are coming in and what special events or news we have to announce.

If you haven’t done so already, be sure to signup to our newsletter to ensure you receive our VIP offers and outrageous specials throughout the year.

We love what we do and we are all so excited to share our amazing new ventures and ideas whilst we continue to grow and bring you new developments for the rest of 2018!

With love

-Meet Meg-

Hi, I’m Meg

Over the past 4 years I have worked hard for my career dream and now I am over the moon to say… I am now a Fully Qualified Beauty Therapist!!

My passion has always been for beauty and the fact that I can make someone feel good about themselves is more than rewarding.

I love and feel so thankful to be able to be part of the Blush Bar team; to work with such an amazing bunch of women. What more could I ask for….
Come see me for your beauty needs!

-Meet Kim-

kim-Meet Kim-

Hi there!

My name is Kimberley and I am one of the make up artists here at Blush Bar!

After finishing my diploma of makeup with Emma as one of my teachers I started freelancing for Blush Makeup Artistry and have been working for her for the last 5 years (how time flies when you’re having fun!)

I absolutely love being a makeup artist – it is so rewarding having people come in and loving my work. I love to make people feel gorgeous for their special event!

Blush Bar is the best place to be – our girls are amazing to be with and I love coming to work! 🙂

Come and let me blush-you-up for your next special event!

-Meet Mel – (aka beauty Mel)

 Blush Bars’ resident hoo-ha expert!

Hi, I am Mel.

Happy, quirky and random pretty much sums me up.

I have been in the beauty Industry for 10 years.
I specialise in brazilian (hoo-ha) waxing and try to make the process as painless as physically possible. 😊
I am also fast becoming Geelongs’ spray tan queen having had the opportunity to participate in amazing training with the pioneer of violet-based tans; Andrea Taylor CEO of Mediterranean Tan.
Eyebrow tinting and shaping is also a popular treatment.

Come in and see me for all your express beauty needs – you wont be disappointed! pinky swear!

– Meet Shannon –

-Makeup Extraordinaire & Blush Bar Senior Artist-

Hi I’m Shannon!

I have been makeuping for over 5 years now and have a diploma in Makeup.

I also have my cert 4 in training and assessment as I also teach part of The Makeup Professionals 6 week course here at Blush Bar.
The first moment I realised I wanted to get into makeup was when I had it done for my Deb and couldn’t believe how amazing it was.
I love teaching Makeup and doing bridal freelance as well as blushing up clients at Blush Bar.
My favorite part about working at Blush Bar would be the girls I get to work with, it makes going to ‘work’ all the more fun, especially when its one of our birthdays we always put on a ‘lil celebration – we never forget the cake!!!
I have always had a passion for makeup, I love teaching women how to enhance their own beautiful features and to feel more confident – and love the looks on their faces after makeup has transformed them for the evening!

Come in and see me for a comprehensive tuition, a natural makeover or a glammed up party event – I rock a smokey eye design on anyone!

Your Makeup Brushes new BFF!

-Your makeup brushes will LOVE you forever!-

Ever wondered why your makeup wasn’t going on smoothly or the colours seemed a bit ‘off’ compared to what they did a little while ago? Are your brushes getting pricklier on application compared to their once smooth application?

Heaven forbid you now have a huge pimple where none had dared to tread or spread for years?

A likely reason behind these beauty woes is the question we all hate (and are embarrassed) to answer –

When was the last time you washed your makeup brushes???

Weeks? Months? Never? Argh!!!!!

We all underestimate the amount of bacteria that can accumulate on our brushes. After so many uses they become caked with product, residue, oil and dead skin cells! (yuck)! that we then put back onto our faces (yuck!!!)

We suggest on average that brushes should be washed at least every fortnight (after every day of use for the makeup artists out there)

So what’s the quickest, best, most amazing way to wash your brushes i hear you say?

You can use unscented bar soap, shampoo and conditioner or dish detergent and lukewarm water (makeup artists can also add an anti-bacterial cleaning solution)

Avoid wetting the brush handle and bristle barrel as this can cause the bristles to loosen and fall out

The Sigma brush cleaning gloves and mats are a quicker way to get right down into the core of the bristles for those of us that are time poor but still want to love our brushes
