Spray Tan Before And After

Before and after getting a spray tan, there are several things to consider and steps to take to achieve the best results. Here's a general overview of what to do before and after a spray tan:

Before Getting a Spray Tan:

  • Exfoliate: Before your spray tan appointment, exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells. This will help the spray tan adhere more evenly and last longer.
  • Shave or Wax: If you plan to remove body hair, do so before getting a spray tan. Shaving or waxing after the spray tan can cause the tan to fade unevenly.
  • Do Not Apply Products: Avoid using moisturisers, oils, perfumes, or deodorant on the day of your spray tan appointment, as they can create a barrier that hinders absorption of the tan.
  • Wear Dark, Loose Clothing: Choose dark, loose-fitting clothing to wear to your appointment. Avoid tight-fitting garments, as they can rub off the spray tan immediately after application.
  • Bring or Wear Swimsuit or Disposable Underwear: Depending on your comfort level, you may need to wear a swimsuit or disposable underwear during the spray tan session.
  • Remove Jewellery: It's a good idea to take off any jewellery or accessories that could interfere with the application of the spray tan.

After Getting a Spray Tan:

  • Wait Before Showering: Most spray tans require you to wait at least 6-8 hours (or as instructed by the technician) before showering. During this time, avoid sweating and any activities that could cause the tan to rub off.

  • Avoid Water Activities: For the first day after the spray tan, avoid swimming, hot tubs, or any water activities that could prematurely fade the tan.

  • Use Moisturiser: After your initial shower, apply a hydrating, alcohol-free moisturiser daily to help extend the life of your spray tan.

  • Limit Exfoliation: Avoid exfoliating your skin for as long as you want to maintain the tan. Exfoliation will remove the top layer of skin and the tan with it.

  • Pat Dry: After showering, pat your skin dry rather than rubbing with a towel. Rubbing can cause the tan to fade more quickly.

  • Avoid Products with Retinol or Alpha Hydroxy Acids: These ingredients can accelerate exfoliation and cause the tan to fade faster, so be cautious with skincare products containing them.

  • Touch-Ups: Depending on how long you want to maintain your tan, consider scheduling touch-up appointments as the tan naturally fades.

It's important to follow the specific instructions provided by your spray tan technician for the best results. Additionally, the longevity of your spray tan can vary based on factors such as your skin type and the quality of the spray tan solution used.
