What is a Lip Flip?

Jan 19, 2021

A lip flip is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that can help people achieve a fuller upper lip without dermal filler. The procedure involves Anti-Wrinkle injections into your upper lip to relax the muscles and “flip” your lip upward. The Anti-Wrinkle will relax the muscle around your mouth, which allows the top lip to gently 'roll out', creating the illusion of more volume, as well as stop your top lip moving up too far when you smile.

A Lip Flip is less expensive than using Dermal Filler as you need less units of Anti-Wrinkle than if you were to get lip filler. The Price ranges between $80 - $160 depending on the units required for treatment.

What is the difference between a lip flip and filler?

A Lip Flip is a great alternative to dermal filler if you would like a subtly more prominent “pout” to your lips,  you feel your upper lip looks invisible when you smile or you want fuller-looking lips but do not want additional volume. The lip flip is a more temporary treatment lasting approx (3-4 months).

The Lip Flip uses Botox to lift the corners of the lips up so that they look more pouty and cheerful, while dermal fillers work by literally making the lips bigger by plumping them. Botox relaxes the muscles around the lips, which in turn gives the illusion of a fuller pout.

At the initial consultation, here are some questions you can ask:

  • How should I prepare for the procedure?
  • What should I avoid (like smoking) after the procedure?
  • How should I care for my lips post-procedure?
