Tanning FAQ's

Spray tanning is a sunless tanning method that involves the application of a tanning solution to the skin. The solution contains DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which interacts with the skin's surface to create a temporary tan.

The whole process including undressing, getting sprayed, drying and redressing takes approximately 15 minutes

To prepare for a spray tan, exfoliate your skin, shave or wax, and avoid using moisturizers, oils, or makeup on the day of your appointment.

  • Shower with warm water to rinse off the bronzer once the development time given by our technician has elapsed.
  • Ensure to rinse the whole body as any missed areas (underarms) can cause the tan to overdevelop
  • Gently pat dry your skin
  • You may wish to use an alcohol free moisturiser if your skin is particularly dry
  • To maintain your tan for as long as possible, moisturise your skin daily. This will also ensure your tan wears evenly.

We suggest tanning 1-2 days before your event. For weddings, 2 days before will give you a more natural look. If you are heading off on a holiday then the night before is best. However, this is just a rough guide, and we can always tailor our tan application to work with your schedule.

As the solution is rapid drying, you can shower as soon as 1.5 hours after your tan, or leave on the skin for up to 8 hours. Our technician will guide you to ensure you achieve your desired colour based on the solution that was chosen for you

Firstly, don’t worry! If you haven't been sprayed with the clear solution what you have rinsed off in the shower is the bronzer - not the tan itself. Your tan will continue to develop for 12 hours after application, so give your tan this time to develop so you can see the final result.

As a precaution we suggest you seek your doctors permission prior to being sprayed in the first trimester, even though testing indicates DHA does not penetrate the skin

The quick dry formula will have you ready to get dressed within approximately 3 minutes of finishing your tan

You should expect your tan to stay beautiful for 7-10 days. It’ll start to fade gradually. To prolong your tan, we recommend using the Tan Extender which can boost your bronze for up to 2 weeks, while soothing and deeply nourishing your skin.

Firstly, don’t stress! If you had dry skin prior to getting your tan the solution tends to grab more to those areas, sometimes leading to a darker result. All you need to do is lightly exfoliate the affected area/s under the shower and then moisturise. This should help to even out the tan.

Yes absolutely. If that is your preference.

If possible, we recommend wearing loose, dark clothing to and from your appointment

No. Both the Professional and Self-tan products are fragrance free. They are infused with combinations of rich-fruits, plants, oils and extracts; with Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil and Kakadu Plum.

Unfortunately, yes! As swimming enhances exfoliation, and chlorinated water makes the skin lighter, it may cause your tan to fade more quickly than normal. You can avoid the fade by taking shorter swims and always using a water-resistant sunscreen, which can act as a barrier between your tan and the water.

You can wear your bathers, underwear or the disposable g-string we provide - whatever makes you feel most comfortable

Spray tan solution will react with and affect the colour of the brow tint. We do not recommend having these services on the same day.

No, a spray tan does not provide UV protection. You should still use sunscreen when exposed to the sun to prevent sunburn and skin damage.

Spray tanning is generally suitable for all skin types. However, individuals with certain skin conditions or allergies should consult a dermatologist before getting a spray tan.
