Dermaplaning - All You Need To Know

Jul 19, 2021

Dermaplaning, also known as 'epidermal levelling' and 'epi blading' is a gentle, highly effective method of exfoliating the skin. The treatment is pain free with no down time required. It creates brighter, smoother and more radiant skin instantly. The treatment exfoliates and evens the skins texture by working a surgical blade over the skin to lift the outer layers of dead skin cells and remove any fine hair (aka peach fuzz).
Dermaplaning can be used to treat a number of conditions including dry, dull or rough skin, acne and congestion, superficial pigmentation and fine lines.

BENEFITS
  • Promotes smoother skin
  • Provides deeper product penetration
  • Removes soft facial hair (peach fuzz)
  • Removes dead skin cells
  • Can reduce the appearance of acne scars
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines
  • No down time
  • Pain free
  • Results seen instantly

WHAT TO EXPECT

The blade is held at a 45 degree angle and is gently brushed along the skin to remove the hair and dead skin cells. Once the blading has been completed, a soothing and hydrating hyaluronic mask is applied for ten minutes.

POST TREATMENT

The results are truly amazing. Your skin will feel and look so smooth. The treatment creates glowing, dewy skin immediately. Some slight redness may be experienced post treatment that may last up to 24 hours.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DERMAPLANE?

For best results we recommend three to four week intervals in between treatments, although results will be seen immediately after each dermaplaning treatment.

HOW WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK?

A frequently asked question! There is no need to worry that your facial hair will grow back darker or thicker. It is a myth. Dermaplaning only targets the vellus hair (peach fuzz) and will grow back as normal.

WHO CAN HAVE DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning can be performed on all skin types (fair to darker skins) and is safe to have if pregnant or breastfeeding. The treatment is perfect for those with sensitive skin that is not suitable for microdermabrasion.

Dermaplaning is not suitable for those who have been on Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have irritated skin, fungal skin infections, active or cystic acne, open wounds, infections, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the area to be treated.

POST CARE

Avoid the use of exfoliating scrubs, and active products including Vitamin A, Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) and Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHA’s) for 5-7days after your treatment. Also avoid direct sun exposure for two weeks after your treatment and ensure to apply SPF daily.

Avoid sweating heavily 24 hours post treatment to avoid clogging pores. It is also suggested to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours post treatment if possible.
