Our friends over at Lash Republic recently sat down with renowned makeup artist Merton Muaremi to ask him some questions - here's what he said.
Australian born and internationally renowned makeup artist Merton Muaremi is as iconic as the brands and clients he has worked with. Ranging from Chanel, Gucci, Versace, Harpers Bazaar and with the likes of Andrej Pejic, Ashley Hart and The Veronicas under the helm of his makeup brush, the list of big name clients reads like the who’s who of big name celebrities, fashion houses, magazines and photographers.
Muaremi has travelled the world captivating his clients with his unique ability to understand and analyse facial structure. With his background in Visual Arts, it is understandable why he has become one of Australia’s most revered makeup artists. Directional, captivating and with the ability to understand the brands he works with, makes him technically and artistically a forced to be reckoned with.
Using only one word, name your makeup style?
Versatile. I like to change my style up as much as I can to keep things interesting.
The big WHY? Why makeup for you?
It's very rewarding to help women feel their best. If makeup makes them happy like going to the gym or yoga, then is makes me happy too.
The best piece of advice you have ever received?
Stay true to yourself, don't conform to social norms.
What is your go-to holy grail product?
At the moment Im loving the RMS lip2 cheek colours. The best for that sable hint of colour.
The ultimate MUA debate, bar or individual lashes?
I love both. I usually apply a bar lash then finish the look off with some individuals.
Who inspires/excites you?
Lately, Ive been inspired by exotic birds. The colours seen on some of these birds are stunningly beautiful.
What’s next for you?
Im hoping to take my masterclasses to the US next year.
Red wine or white wine?
Red for sure!
